Facebook

Hi

I've put Bumblin Bedas on Facebook as another way to show people what I'm up to.

If you like reading this blog and are on Facebook I would love it if you would 'like' Bumblin Beads'.

So far I'm at three likes. I would be thrilled to bump it up to ten.

Thanks
Sally

Hi

I've joined Facebook as Bumblin Beads.
I'm excited to say that I have three likes! One is me!

I bought some wool today. I thought I would have a try at learning to knit. I have a really good book by Debbie Bliss that teaches you stage by stage. It will probably take me ages to get through it and the wool isn't cheap for each project but I thought I might manage to teach myself by the time I'm a granny.

Hope you are having a good weekend.

Bracelet

I made this bracelet today as a raffle prize for a fair I'm having a stall at.

I'm really pleased with it and would happily have kept it.

The request was for something summery and these beads are lovely light colours.

I've downloaded an Adobe app that I'm hoping might mean I can lighten the background on my photos. I've also ordered a book specifically related to my camera. I'm hoping it will help me take better photos.

Beads

Hi

Here are some beads I've made recently.

I liked making this one. It catches the light very nicely because of the bubbles in the glass. I will definitely be making a set that features lots of bubbles. Any colour requests are gladly received. You'd be under no obligation to buy. I'd just make them, put them on Etsy and see if anyone wanted to buy them.

I was very pleased with this bead. It's the best flower one I've ever made and I feel like, if I don't rush the making, I could make a set good enough for my Etsy shop.

This ones was quite good too.

This was my second attempt at a cabochon. I wanted to make it with a twistie (thin rod of glass that features two or more colours twisted together) so that it would look more interesting. I am very pleased with how it turned out.

That's it for now. I have a cake in the oven that is almost ready so must go.

Have a good weekend.

Beads

Here's my latest beads.

These big ones made with my own stringer and murrini. I enjoyed making these and like the way they look but didn't manage the get the sizes very close to each other.

These ones I like very much but want to have more in the set before I put them on Etsy. Hopefully next week I'll manage to make at least two more. The photo is taken with a good camera but there wasn't enough light.

These are my beads from the other day looking better in this photo.

Had a try at some flower beads too. Not my best work. This first photo is too dark again.

Beads

I need to take a better photo of these beads but I'm very pleased with how they turned out.

I've not checked them over yet but I like the colours very much.

They are destined either for Etsy or to be made into a bracelet for a fair raffle prize I'm having a stall at.

Beads

I made these beads and have added them to my Etsy shop.

This bead was a disappointing experiment. I really like the colour amber and thought putting some silver foil under the amber would look brilliant. You can see from the photo that it does not look brilliant!

This is a tree bead. I like making these but they take quite a while and this one is far from my best. I think it needs more green and, possibly, a more interesting background.

This is the other side of it but I think I could have made it more interesting. My thinking was that its a shame if you have a nice pendant that has a good side and a boring side but it keeps ending up on the boring side.

This is the back of my other tree bead. I've used a bit of silver foil to make it more interesting but it could be better.

This is the tree side of that tree bead. I prefer it to the other one but am still not happy with it. I don't think it stands out very well against the background and I think the leaves are out of proportion. I'm looking forward to trying to make a better one.

This was a silver glass bead. I tend to avoid these glasses because they are so expensive but I think I need to actually use my supply so I can find how to make it look good. Some lampworkers make this glass look amazing.

This bead was a massive disappointment. Silver glass again which is expensive on a background of a colour that also isn't cheap and the result is a rubbish looking bead.

I really like this bead. I like the colours and the style.

These beads turned out well but I only made three. They look like someone's done some scribble sketching.

This one is ok but it needs a more interesting base for my murrini to go on I think.

Thanks for looking

Beads

The beads I made the other day came out mostly ok.

I made a heart free form after watching a You Tube tutorial by Corina Tettinger. I'm quite pleased with the way it came out and it used less glass than my press.

I had a try at using a small heart cutter I have for polymer clay. Next time I think I need to use one colour of glass so that you can see the heart more clearly.

I was pleased with how these beads turned out as an idea. I need to make more that are more carefully wrapped so the colour goes right to the holes. I like the look though. Very lacy.

This one shows the one I liked the best and also shows how the black doesn't quite reach the hole.

These ones came out very nicely. They remind me of Spring which was the look I was going for. I need to work on the lentil shape before I'm ready to put some on Etsy but these colours I like very much. I am running low on pink though and need the price of gold to fall so I can buy more. When I bought my pink it was £10 ish now its £27 for the same amount.

I made more of these. I now have 13 I'm happy to sell but may as well make more before I list them on Etsy.

More of the green and pink combo. I very much like the one on the left of the photo.

If anyone would like me to attempt any particular colour combinations I'd be very happy to give it a go. Just leave a comment.

Thanks for looking

New beads

I've added some new beads to my Etsy shop.

Thanks for looking.

Also need to make more of these then I can list them for sale.

They all have a mix of the same colours but the way the colours have mixed make them all look different.
