Today's making

Hi there

Today I worked on a headband. I made an Attic24 flower and a strip of crochet:

I thought a button in the centre would look good so got my stash out:

This guy was looking at me with great interest:

I couldn't find what I was after so had to tip it all out:

Once he realised there was nothing edible in the pile, he took himself off to bed:

I found these to pick from:

This is the one I went for:

Tomorrow I get to put it all together and am hoping A likes it.

Dreams

Dreams are brilliant aren't they? In a dream anything can happen. You could be so rich you don't know what to spend your money on, you could fly, you could be looking through your latest purchase of glass, yarn, beads and stationery, the possibilities are endless. Why then do I have to dream I went for an evening walk but when I got home I realised I forgot the dog? What a wasted dream opportunity.

Here's a photo of a drawing done by my very artistic daughter.

I love children's art.

Today

Hello there

Today we have visited the doctor due to a dodgy leg A has:

Hoping the above will sort things out.

Scotch Pancake making thanks to a recipe from Lucy at Attic24.

Really delicious. I even couldn't wait to eat a bit before I remembered I wanted to take a photo:

There's been chocolate lolly making in preparation for Grandparents visiting tomorrow. This was a present from Father Christmas and has been a big hit with you A:

Chocolate buttons were melted with help from the microwave:

Look at that chocolate:

I had the idea of using some chocolate stars to make the lollies look more interesting:

This guy checked up on us now and then:

There's also been Lego building:

The boys went off to play football and one of them came home with very muddy legs:

I've done all this stuff while wearing two very nice bracelets I made. I love the sparkle of the Swarovski Crystal and the look of some of my favourite lampwork beads:

And I finished another flower and attached it to my scarf:

A walk

This guy...

...generally has two runs and a walk each day.

Today's walks were a bit muddy. I managed not to fall over but there was a bit of sliding involved.

He found several puddles which he enjoyed drinking and splashing about in.

This is the little lane we walk down to get into the field.

Dinner is in the oven now and there's been tidying and lighting improvements today. I now can see what I'm doing in the living room without using a daylight lamp. It's going to be so good to be able to see in the evenings. I hate energy saving bulbs so much.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to all my lovely readers.

I'm tentatively planning to possibly write a bit more about my day-to-day life because I'm enjoying reading the Attic24 blog so much and thought it would be a good way for me to keep track of stuff I get up to.

I already write regularly a kind of blog to my children with lots of photos of them but I often worry it will somehow get lost and they'll never get to read it. If I write on here at least I know it's always available.

This was Husband (H's) dinner yesterday:

We went to Ed's Diner. I've not been there in about 10 years. We had the banana and peanut butter milkshake we used to and it was so delicious.

Daughter's (D's) and Son's (S's) dinners looked like this. D isn't a big eater and left most of it.

I have a delivery from Ocado coming on Friday and am very pleased that they now deliver yarn. I've ordered two balls with the intention of starting my own ripple blanket like the one Lucy from Attic24 has made. She has a lovely photo on her blog of small feet poking out from under the blanket and I love the thought of my children having something like that to snuggle under. I thought I could buy a ball of yarn every now and then so I can add to my blanket. I'll post pictures of my progress.

Yesterday was a lovely day and I was so pleased to finally get my hands on a copy of Inside Crochet. I love reading it and looking at the websites they mention. I take photos of things I like the look of to put into my Noteshelf app. I then like to look at this when I'm thinking of something I might like to make. It's a big notebook. I am full of lots and lots of ideas but don't have much time to do anything about them. It's good to think I'm not going to run out of ideas anytime soon. I have ideas for crochet, ideas for bead weaving, ideas for glass combinations and other stuff. I say reading the magazine in my favourite chair with D next to me watching Lego Friends on her iPad and S playing on his one (Subway Surfers). It was lovely. H was out walking V (our dog).

Happy New Year. I hope that it's a very happy and healthy one for you all.

Scarf/shawl

I made a shawl for a wedding I went to recently. It matched the dress I wore. It's simple treble crochet made using DMC Petra Number 5 in navy using a 5mm hook to give it a lacy look. This is what it looks like:

I'm very pleased with the triple layer flower I added to the bottom. It's a pattern from Lucy at Attic 24 and gives the best result I've seen. I've tried two others and her tutorial is nice and clear and includes a pattern for a leaf.

I've made three now to add to the shawl so that I can wear it as a scarf and it looks more colourful and interesting than it would if it was just navy. I'm going to keep making them and adding them until I feel like I've got enough. They are all made in DMC Petra Number 5 with a 2mm hook. These are the three I've made so far:

I like to crochet while I watch television. The other day I watched tv without a hook in my hand and ended up doing far too much snacking!

Have a very Happy Christmas.
